For a makeup finish, there are two ways to go: Dewy or Matte. Which side are you on? BDJBOX.com Beauty Minister Valerie Tan helps you decide with this quick guide!
DEWY: It leaves a slightly moist and radiant finish. It stays away from heavy contouring and focuses more on highlighting the high planes of the face like the nose bridge and cheekbones.

MATTE: It has a velvety, even, and smooth finish where shine is eliminated. It has a powdery and flawless appearance with a doll-like finish.
How to achieve the look:
DEWY: Prime skin with a highlighting primer on cheekbones. Apply a tinted moisturizer or BB cream all over the face. Apply a cream-based blush on the apples of the cheeks. Sweep highlighting powder again on the apples of cheeks.

MATTE: Prime skin with matte primer for a flawless base. Using a stippling brush, sweep matte foundation all over the face. Using a fan brush, lightly sweep translucent powder all over the face to set.
Max Factor Smooth Miracle Primer, Revlon Photoready Two Way Powder Foundation, Revlon Photoready Prime + Anti Shine
Pros and Cons:
DEWY: It looks luminous and youthful and has a more natural look. It softens lines and imperfections and gives a subtle glow. Skin looks supple and healthy, but may look oily if overdone. It tends to look oily on photos and videos. Brides usually don a dewy finish because it looks fresh.
MATTE: It looks flawless and picture-perfect. It makes your skin look poreless. It can look dry or make you look mature. If you have dry skin to begin with, matte makeup can be unflattering. Great for people with oily skin. Ideal for photos.
Get it Right:
DEWY: Don’t go overboard with highlight because you may end up looking greasy instead. You can balance other parts of the face with a matte finish, like the sides of the forehead and the lower third of the face.
MATTE: No need to be matte all over. Balance it off with lip gloss or highlighter on the eyes.
