Cornrow Braids

Be it tribal or hip-hop-inspired, cornrow braids will definitely give you that cool girl mien. At Balmain, the models were like warrior princesses in stylized mohawks with braids situated only at the hair’s center, then tied into a smooth ponytail. For Riri’s show at Fenty x Puma, half of the hair was put up in slimmer braids, and worn straight at the ends. Want to try a full-on cornrows look? Check out Preen’s edgy runway updo.

Textured Waves

This flattering, volumized hairstyle is still the go-to of most designers, and we wish we had waves like these to say, #Iwokeuplikethis. Gigi Hadid’s effortless waves were brought out at Fendi for a tousled style. At Louis Vuitton, the hairstylists also worked with the models’ natural hair texture to achieve loose curls or waves. As for the models at Christian Dior, their soft and bouncy waves were accessorized with leather berets for that unmistakable French signature.

Sleek Ponytail

Whether worn high or low, side or center parted, the sleek ponytail is given a modern touch this season. At Prabal Gurung, hair was kept clean and away from the face with a sleek ponytail worn at ear level. At J.W. Anderson, a low ponytail with an exaggerated side part was seen on the models, which was girly and undeniably chic. Want a glossy ‘do? Part your hair at the center and go for a high-shine ponytail, as seen on Loewe.

Wet Look

For the season’s wet look hairstyle, it is slick yet unkempt at the same time. Grungy feels, yes? At Christopher Kane, cowlicks were embraced and the top hair part was raised for a bit of volume. At Giambattista Valli, loose waves were combed back for a sporty feel. As for the Thakoon show, hair looked soaked yet combed to the side for controlled waves.

One of your fave hair accessories as a kid takes center stage this season in a variety of styles and ways to wear them. Finish off your sleek ponytail with a slim rhinestone headband (matching earrings optional) a la Miu Miu. At Chanel, it’s the sixties all over again with a beehive-inspired ‘do and an embellished headband worn low. It’s eccentric as can be at the Gucci runway with a sporty take on the house’s logo headband—clearly, this is not for the faint-hearted.

Colored Tresses

From acid colors to metallic hues, colored tresses surely caught our attention at the Fall/Winter 2017 runways. At Versace, looks like the hairstylists had a lot of fun adding vibrant streaks to the models’ locks for that tough chick vibe. We’re digging this unique hairstyle at Issey Miyake. A metallic headband? Nope! That’s the model’s actual hair, smoothed into a metallic finish. At Junya Watanabe, punk’s not dead with acid colored hair that screamed “rebel”.
