I have combination skin type—which means my T-zone gets oily while other parts of my face remain dry. This makes it really hard for me to choose a proper moisturizer suitable for my skin type.

My moisturizers usually come in cream or serum form—never oil. So when I got my hands on the seriously-raved about product, NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil, I was a bit skeptical and intimidated particularly because it’s oil-based.

However, what makes dry oil better than typical oil-based moisturizers is that when you apply it on your skin, it basically disappears. Okay, probably not because of sorcery, but this Nuxe dry oil does leave little to none of that heavy greasy feeling.

With its unique concentration of six precious botanical oils (Borage, St. John’s Wort, Sweet Almond, Camellia, Hazelnut and Macadamia) and Vitamin E, the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil nourishes, repairs and softens the face, body, and hair. In a single step, this quick-absorbing dry oil will leave your skin soft and your hair silky and shiny.

The packaging is probably the first thing I noticed about the product. The bottle is made of glass and comes with spray nozzle. You could easily mistake it for a perfume, which isn’t impossible because the scent is amazing! It has a strong floral smell on first application but eventually fades into a mild whiff after some time. I read that people also use this product as their perfume, and I can totally see why.

ON MY HAIR: Still unconvinced of putting oil on my oily face, I decided to try it on my hair first. True to its promise of being a multi-purpose oil, I used this to replace my usual hair serum and it worked just fine without weighing down my curls. The floral scent also worked to my advantage as it left my hair smelling pretty sweet.

ON MY BODY: I am not a fan of lotions because I easily get skin allergies from lanolin. The cold weather tends to dry my skin so I decided to give this Nuxe dry oil a try on my legs. I became an instant fan because I only needed two spritzes and my legs stayed hydrated the entire day. It also left a nice, natural-looking sheen on my body in the morning.

LEFT: Without the Oil | RIGHT: Upon Application

ON MY FACE: I prepped my face first with my HG exfoliating product, Cure Natural Aqua Gel, to make sure my skin would absorb all of the Nuxe’s botanical oils. I used three sprays on my face before going to sleep, and the first thing I noticed is how my skin instantly absorbed all the oil. My hands were free from “grease” and my pillow and clothes didn’t have any residue. Yas!

I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that I could use this product before makeup application. I used one spray on the driest part of my face, spread it evenly, and let it sit for a few minutes before I applied my primer and the rest of my makeup. The result was a smoother base for my foundation. 🙂

THE VERDICT:
Packaging: 3/5
Smell: 4/5
Texture: 5/5
Effectivity: 4/5

Honestly, I love this product so much! But the bulky glass packaging is a no-no for a clumsy girl like me, and the price tag is quite high (P900 for 50ml and P1,200 for 100ml). Fortunately, since you only need a little bit of the product, it will last a long time. Other than that, this is a must-have for girls who are looking for better alternatives to regular moisturizers.

Would I repurchase? Definitely!
